2019 Summer Adventure Post 2
This Stop Erie PA-June 1st-4th
Headed out about 9:00a.m. and 4 hours later we were all set up at our new destination. No traffic, a bit of construction but all went well. We arrived at Presque Isle Passage Campground. We had been here on a previous trip with Nathan before his high school graduation. It has new owners and they are fixing it up a bit and adding new cabins etc. I will put a picture of quite the "unique" overnight accommodations you might call it. They called it "Land Shark". You could rent it out for your stay at this campground. I am sure if you had kids they would be pretty excited.
As we were heading out there was a visitors center and we saw the rooftop they called a "Living Roof" it had vegetation growing on top of it. Something we had never seen before. I guess it has many purposes some being insulation, absorbing rainwater, a habitat for wildlife, supposedly can decrease stress in people with having more aesthetically pleasing landscape. As for me I will stick with the traditional roof. Not sure I would like critters running around on my roof.
Another place we visited was Presque Isle State Park. We saw Presque Isle Bay which fed into Lake Erie. The waters were very high in both areas. Some of the walkways were covered over with water, but still a very beautiful place to visit. We saw an old lighthouse along the Bay.
On our way home from the Park we saw what we thought was a walkway over the roadway. I made Steven turn the truck around and drive by it again as I realized it wasn't a walkway but was used to connect a roller coaster that one part of the roller coaster was on one side of the road and the other part was on the other side of the road. Something we had never seen before. We were hoping to see the actual roller coaster go over it but we didn't time it right. I will put a couple of pictures to show you.
So all in all a nice area to visit that I definitely want to come back to do some more exploring.

Just finding out you were in Erie, PA. Kris' ranch is just 50 minutes south of Erie. Maybe next time.
ReplyDeleteText me the address, we have to come home someday. I think we are coming home through Harrisburg but you never know.
